Price Per bottle: How I see it

Why are some oils 10x more expensive?
I can get 10 bottles for the price of 1 with some brands.

I always wondered about this until I found out what makes CBD oils a commodity. Many commodities (Oil, Gas, Minerals, etc) come from Mother Nature and there is a limited supply of them. This is what gives the product their initial set pricing. The degree of labor involved with producing a commodity along with how many hands it passes through (importers, distributors, etc) will tack on the bulk of the pricing margins. (2nd set of pricing)

What about those expensive oils that are so exclusive and in limited quantity reserves?
In general the most oils that come from farms that do not have mass production capabilities and are not using conventional growing practices, have fewer raw materials to work with, labor and hard costs are higher (no inorganic fertilizers), and production can vary year to year because of weather. When was the last time you were hiking and stumbled across a huge field of watermelons or peppermint plants and those plants were just growing wild for 50 acres? It’s a pretty rare thing. Mother Nature in general is not wasteful like silly humans. She only produces what is required with minimal energy exchanged for local animals and insects. The animals and insects take only what they need. The delicate life cycles of these various kingdoms has not been tampered with.

In general various species of plants are native to certain areas of the globe based on the climate. With mass farming technologies, more species now can be forced to grow in a wider variety of climates and even in poor soils. Lavender, for example, is a Mediterranean plant, and requires a similar climate to thrive. The Provence region of France is where most lavender is commercially grown. I was driving in the middle of Texas about 5 years ago and came across 20 acres of Lavender! I rest my case..

So with farming technology today we can transplant species to different climates and zones but we can never quite replicate Mother Nature. There are deeper reasons why certain lavender species thrived in certain regions and why certain hardy strains of plants became primary. The strains that have survived in certain regions naturally without artificial cultivation have stronger genetics. It is these same factors that are responsible for some oils being more therapeutic than others.

The cost of private reserve oils is extremely expensive as just a few cases can be bought at a time. These oils come in a bottle without any labels or logos.

I strongly recommend sampling some of the lower priced oils and the higher cost oils. See my Free Samples page to check the samples you want sent to you.
Price per bottle - Essential Oils
Note: if you see one brand for nearly have the price with the same mg of CBD, the deciding factor would be the bioavailability of their brand. This is when you know what you are getting for your money. Knowing the therapeutic potency of a CBD product is easy when you know what to look for. Otherwise, it can be easy to get ripped off.
See my raw vs cooked CBD page. I wrote this page as this is one of the first decision I make even before deciding if I want a full spectrum or lower spectrum CBD.

RETAIL CBD OIL PRICING - Depending on the species of hemp and extraction, the retail is 28 to 55 dollars per gram. This also depends on the purchase price. A low yielding strain that is in the very expensive brands that cost $55 to the public can always be bought cheaper based on how much someone buys.

When making cbd, its is easier to get a volume price on 5 to 6 varieties to make a lower, broad spectrum oil than call 60 hemp farms to put in 60 small orders with 60 different companies. The really big companies that can afford to put in 60 huge orders who have millions of dollars can do this. Those are the companies that have the largest market share and who can afford to since they know they have the customer base for it. The CBD brands that have this type are very expensive and very few dealers sell there brands due to the higher cost. The companies that have access to these low yielding strains I have to get my orders custom as they don't sell it on their websites.

For CBD, the average market rate is to be between under 10 cents per milligram (low) and 55 cents per milligram being (high). About 500mg in a tincture bottle. Very few people will find the brands that charge more than 35 cents per gram. Those that do are usually inflating their price that I've found.

Grade C : 11 cents per mg - 19 cents per mg

Grade B : 20 cents per mg -39 cents per mg

Grade A : 40 cents per mg - 49 cents per mg

Grade AA : 50 cents per mg - 55 cents per mg  (note the highest retail price I have found is 80 cents per milligram that I find inflated.

Note: the market is shifting all the time and these numbers change but this is what it is right now that I have found. I have seen large orders of Chinese cbd for 5 cents. Decent quality should cost 20 cents. Highest grade should about 50 cents.

Wholesale pricing can be in the range from 4 cents to 25 cents per mg depending on the quality. This is the average that I came up with based on my research calling different manufacturer's and knowing their highest discount based on highest volume buying. Two years ago the asking price was 75 cents per mg even for large quantity at wholesale and it's been steadily going down. Now anyone can get it for 20 cents per mg at retail while the wholesale price was 75 cents when people had to buy 75,000 dollars worth or a kilo.

Highest Grade CBD Oils are priced based on it's commodity value. The hemp strains that are in small production or have lower yield due to the nature of the species or unpredictable weather related instability can also effect the price. The price on different strains also can change year to year.

Note: I don't always go by the most expensive CBD oil price as the larger companies that do higher volume can sell the same quality for cheaper.

Larger CBD oil companies can afford to produce a higher quality cbd oil and use lower temperatures and less extreme extraction methods. The larger companies can produce higher grades of oil and not focus on the volume of oil extracted.

Not everyone is looking for the most expensive cbd oil and some people starting out may want to try the cheaper brands before going to the highest quality brands. Take my CBD quiz and I will pick out the brand based on your answers.
